Dialogue with God

POEMS ARE SONGS OF THE HEART AND SOUL

This morning I began to ask myself
Do I need to be talented and intelligent
in order to be known?
Is there greatness on this?
Do I have to be popular in order to be a nun?

There’s no greatness on such
Remember what I have said
Let the children come to me
For to them belong the kingdom of God

O Lord why should I aspire for greatness
You are with me.
You alone are my desire
To possess in my life
I’m already yours, and I possessed you already
My heart belongs to you.

I am still insecure not to be recognized
Afraid in my passiveness to contribute
So weak and limited to give.

I don’t need your talents
What I need is your “yes”.
Yes to my will, a heart to love me and others
A freedom to be the best of yourself.

Yes, Lord, true greatness is
Not surmountable to my talents
To the intelligence and my being active
But by the deeds which could do a lot of miracles
To the troubled hearts,
To the stony hearts
To the world of hatred,
Revenge, competition and jealousy.

One day I will come to deliberate you
From the world and take you to my Father in heaven.

I am God´s Creation

POEMS ARE SONGS OF THE HEART AND SOUL

I’m a wonderful creation of God
Full of wonder and mystery
A unique creature – so rare and precious
So delicate and fragile.

God has granted my being
A feeling to feel his love
A mind to know his thoughts
A heart to feel his love.

He has created me
In his image and likeness
He has breathed me with life
He has filled my soul with his being.

God is gentle and kind.
He graciously formed me.
He carved me into a stature he wanted me to be
He gently placed me in his palm.

O Yahweh, your love is beyond compare
Your thoughts are beyond my comprehension
You are so good
Your love is without measure.

As you have created me and formed me
Help me not resist your hands
Which gently molds my life and be open to your transforming love.

Make me an open person
Open to be formed and broken
Open to be lost and found
Open to be loved and hated
Open to be accepted and rejected
Open to your will – everyday
Open to see you in myself, others and the world
In your creation and in the church. Amen.
